One of The Mosst Common Techniques

Explained!

Immunoprecipitation (IP) technique is probably one of the most common and useful immunochemical antigen purification and detection techniques.  IPs allow researchers to study a number of characteristics of the purified antigen, including:

  • Presence & quantity of antigen
  • Relative molecular weight of antigen
  • Rate of synthesis or degradation of antigen
  • Rate of protein activation
  • Presence of post-translational protein modifications
  • Interactions with other proteins, nucleic acids and ligands
