One of The Mosst Common Techniques
Explained!
Immunoprecipitation (IP) technique is probably one of the most common and useful immunochemical antigen purification and detection techniques. IPs allow researchers to study a number of characteristics of the purified antigen, including:
- Presence & quantity of antigen
- Relative molecular weight of antigen
- Rate of synthesis or degradation of antigen
- Rate of protein activation
- Presence of post-translational protein modifications
- Interactions with other proteins, nucleic acids and ligands
